About Phantastic Phinds

phantastic phinds

Phantastic Phinds was started by Angela in 2004. The idea behind Phantastic Phinds was to recycle unwanted, useable things back into the community instead of letting them go to a landfill. Angela started the business with just a few pieces that were salvaged from a construction job. She refinished the pieces to make them more attractive and sold them online.

At the time, Angela was working a 9-5 office job and was looking to do something a little more creative, that would also make an impact on the community. Angela got the idea for Phantastic Phinds in December of 2004, and quickly started working on the website. The new business would incorporate furniture from local residents who were moving, redecorating, or clearing out unused items. All items would be put on a 3 month consignment and sold to the public for reasonable prices. Angela built the website within a month, Phantastic Phinds got incorporated, and Angela's business was born.

As you may have noticed, the logo for Phantastic Phinds is the Tree of Life symbol with three drawers down the tree trunk. The tree of life symbol generally means the circle of life. Phantastic Phinds continues the circle for the products we sell by giving them the chance to have a second life. The three drawers represent Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose... our overall goal as a company.

Phantastic Phinds continues to grow over the years. In early 2007, Angela added small items such as china, dishes, glasses, crystal, silver, home decorating pieces, collectibles, artwork and other items to the list of things accepted. A few months later, Angela's dreams came true and she found a storefront to launch the first brick and mortar location. The store opened January 15th 2010 at 631 Bethlehem Pike Erdenheim, PA 19038. This location is most fitting, as Erdenheim means "Earthly Home." It offers consignment furniture and home goods from customers in the Philadelphia & surrounding suburban area, making the overall shopping experience with Phantastic Phinds one of a kind. The dynamic website shows all of the items available in the store and is updated every hour.

The goal of Phantastic Phinds has always stayed the same: Save the Planet & Your Wallet, Buy Second Hand. Instead of putting useful things on the curb, Phantastic Phinds wants to help you make a little green, while being green for the environment and turn your clutter into cash.

Meet The Staff

Angela
Angela is the founder and owner of Phantastic Phinds which she established in 2004 out of her garage. Phantastic Phinds has given her the forum to blend her two strongest passions; recycling/repurposing and her love for all things antique and vintage. The eclectic mix of consignment items that are carefully selected and displayed in her store allow the buyer to inspire themselves with unlimited potentials. It is within this inspiration that Angela gets excited to be a part of her store community everyday. Angela has a degree in Sociology from the University of Delaware. For more about Angela, see the above About Us section.
Liz
Liz is the manager at Phantastic Phinds. She has a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts from the Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She is fascinated by our customers wealth of knowledge and is always eager to search for information on an unknown item. Her creative background includes love of decorative items, antiques, and art work. Liz also makes her own jewelry and sells her original artwork online at http://elizabeth-carrozza.artistwebsites.com.

She is a graduate of Shippensburg University with a BA in Speech Communications and Art. Meghan
Meghan is the newest member of the Phantastic Phinds family. Meghan does all the odds and ends at Phantastic Phinds, and helps Liz & Lisa keep the store looking fresh. She is a great addition here, with her laid back attitude and friendly demeanor. She currently runs an online business redesigning vintage clothing with an inspired twist & creating jewelry. Visit her Betsy store to see some of her work http://megsraggededge.etsy.com.
Piper
Although she is recently retired, she is still asked about, so we thought we would include her bio here. Piper likes long walks, swimming in the ocean, snow balls, sleeping and treats. She spent many hours behind the desk at Phantastic Phinds in her green chair (which is no longer there). Occasionally she would bark when someone would jiggle their keys or slam the back door a little too hard, but otherwise most people would hardly know she was there. We miss Piper but know she is enjoying her retirement. Thanks for 2 good years Pipe! You are missed.

As always, our purpose is to provide the greater Philadelphia area with consignment furniture & home decorating items for a variety of tastes & preferences at prices everyone can afford. We love to see things get a second life, that's why we do what we do. We have a great mix of modern and old, valuable and ordinary, a little bit of everything, for just about everyone
